In addition to normal accumulations of duct and dirt found in all homes with air ducts, there are several other factors that can increase the need for regular HVAC system cleaning.
Pets
Occupants with allergies or asthma
Cigarette or cigar smoke
Water contamination or damage to the home or HVAC system
Home renovation or remodeling projects
Some occupants are more sensitive to these contaminants than others. Allergy and asthma sufferers, as well as young children and the elderly tend to be more susceptible to the types of poor indoor air quality that air duct cleaning can help address. Will cleaning the air ducts get rid of all of the dust in my home?
The short answer is no, but it is certainly a good step to take to help in the fight against dust. Dust is everywhere, and even if you were to lock yourself inside of your house and never open any doors or windows, there really is no way to permanently, 100% eliminate dust from your home. However, your HVAC system is constantly re-circulating air through your house and if there is dirt and dust in the duct work, you will be fighting a losing battle trying to keep your home dust-free. Having your ducts cleaned is a great way to significantly cut down on the amount of dust being circulated throughout your home.
How often should my duct work be cleaned?
The answer to this varies from home to home. A general recommendation is every 5-7 years. However, there are many contributing factors to consider. If you have pets, smoke in the home, or are very sensitive to dust or other allergens, you may seek to have the ducts cleaned more frequently.
What if I have registers/vents that cannot be removed?
If a register cannot be taken off of the wall or floor, then it will not be removed.
PLEASE BE ADVISED: In order for Well-House technicians to properly clean the air ducts in your home, they have to take off all removable registers. If your registers have been painted onto the wall, we cannot guarantee that the paint will not chip or peel during this process. We cannot be held liable or responsible or any damage done to the paint on the wall around the register due to registers being painted on. If you prefer to take these registers off yourself, you are more than welcome to do so.
When are appointments available?
We schedule air duct cleaning services Monday - Friday with 4 appointment slots available each day:
Early Morning: Arrival between 7:30 - 8:30 am
Late Morning: Arrival between 9:00 am - NOON
Early Afternoon: Arrival between 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Late Afternoon: Arrival between 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm
The arrival time for the technicians is based on how long the other jobs take them that day. Sometimes, we may run into a situation where a home requires more time than expected to complete, so it is impossible to know exactly what time they will arrive. This is why we schedule our appointments in a time range instead of for a specific time. Technicians will call when they are on the way. We understand that it may be difficult to coordinate this without an exact appointment time, but we will work with you! Often times, a neighbor or relative will give the technicians access to the home if you are unable, or perhaps there is a garage code that they can use to get in - whatever works best for you! Please just understand that it is impossible for us to give you an exact appointment start time. If you will not be home for your appointment time, please let the office know how the technicians are to get access to the home when you schedule your appointment.
Do you guarantee your service?
Technicians take a few before and after photos of your ductwork to demonstrate that the cleaning has been performed properly. If for any reason you are unhappy with the cleaning, contact our office within 24 hours of the service. We will gladly return and re-clean any areas that were unsatisfactory. PLEASE TAKE PHOTOS OF ANY CONCERNS AND DO NOT RE-CLEAN ANYTHING BEFORE WE ARRIVE.
What should I do to prepare for the appointment?
Technicians will need access to each register/vent in the home, as well as the area around the furnace. They are happy to move furniture or items out of the way. However, large, fragile items can not be moved by the technicians. Please take care of moving these types of items on your own.
If you have pets, it may be best to make arrangements for them if you feel that they will be agitated by this process.
Please be sure that technicians will have access to your home upon arrival. If there is no answer at the door and you cannot be reached by phone, technicians will wait for a maximum of 15 minutes. After the 15 minutes, we will assume that we should cancel your appointment.
PLEASE NOTE: ANY CANCELLATIONS WITHIN 24 HOURS OF THE SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT TIME WILL BE CHARGED A $250 CANCELLATION FEE PLUS TRAVEL CHARGE TO THE CREDIT CARD ON FILE.
When is payment expected?
We will ask for a credit card to put on file when you schedule your appointment. Please have this information available when you call. You are not required to pay your invoice with that card, but you certainly can if you want. In the event that you cancel within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment time, we will charge the $250 cancellation fee plus travel charge to the card on file.
Payment is expected at the time of service. We can accept cash, check, or credit card payment. Please note that there is no discount available with credit card payments due to the processing fees. Please not that invoices not paid at the time of service will accrue a 1.5% monthly interest charge. If there is a valid card on file, we will automatically charge that card for the total amount of service unless payment is received in a different form.
